Community Preview for Musical: King’s Players Presents “The Boy Friend”
Dec. 13, 2011
The King’s University College Players at the University of Western Ontario have set aside two special preview performances of their upcoming January musical for community groups. To ensure as many seniors as possible are able to enjoy the shows, seating will be available at the special community rate of $5 per person.
The performance dates for the preview are Wednesday, January 11 at 12:00 pm and Thursday, January 12 at 10:00 am. Following the show groups will be welcome to remain in the theatre for the opportunity to meet and interact with the actors and crew from the show.
This season’s show is being presented at the London Central Library’s Wolf Performance Hall. Entitled “The Boy Friend”, the production is a romantic spoof of 1920's musical comedy. Set in the French Riviera, the show features Polly (Breanne Pollard), an English heiress attending Mme. Dubonnet's (Maude Sheppard) Finishing School, who falls in love with Tony (Marc Blanchard), a delivery boy. Recalling her father's (Jacob Verwaayen) warning to beware fortune seekers, she poses as a working girl, in hopes that Tony will love her for who she is, not for her father’s wealth.
For information on organizing a community or seniors groups to attend these special showings, contact John Houghton at (519) 614-7010 or e-mail kingsplayers@kucsc.com. Early registration is of importance as seating is limited. Showings to the general public run January 12, 13, 14 at 7:00 pm each night for $15 per person. Seating is available by contacting the King's Players Box Office at (519) 614-7010.
