KING’S PLAYERS COMPLETE MASSIVE MOVE AND RESUME REHEARSALS

No Room For Error: This large riser was moved into the performance hall with less than one inch of clearance through the narrow main doors.

January 7, 2011

The King’s Players Theatre Company at the University of Western Ontario has successfully moved its set and operations into the Wolf Performance Hall at the London Central Library in preparation for presenting its second annual musical “The Boy Friend” which runs this coming week January 12-14.

Student volunteers in the cast and crew were recalled early from Christmas holidays to complete the move and resume rehearsals for the highly-anticipated production.

The set move-in was a massive effort for the campus theatre company, transporting large prefabricated sections from a preparation area near Airport Road to their destination at the Wolf Performance Hall. Narrow doorways at the performance hall, steep stairs, and set pieces weighing over 500 lbs provided a significant challenge for the twenty-member team during the six-hour move.

The King’s Players extend a special thank-you to our volunteers for their help during the move and to Masciotra Concrete Forming for providing the preparation area and transport for the set.

“The Boy Friend” will run at 7:00 pm starting this week for three nights only. Show dates are January 12, 13, 14. Tickets are $15 and can be put on hold by calling (519) 614-7010 or contacting kingsplayers@kucsc.com.

No Time for A Break: Cast member Jesslyn Hodgson literally paints herself into a corner while choreographer Brikena Qamili looks on.
